Karlsruhe School of Services (KSOS)

Introduction by Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt, KSOS Program Coordinator

Services play a crucial role in our society – they account for the largest part of our economies. However, science and industry do not reflect this importance. It is time to make a change!

The Karlsruhe School of Services strengthens the position of KIT in its position in the domain of service research and teaching. To expedite the competence in IT-based services, renowned researchers, the so-called KSOS Principal Investigators support the school with their expertise in their respective research area. The Karlsruhe School of Services is designed to provide an ideal research environment to enable the qualification of young researchers and their autonomous research in the interdisciplinary field of services.

In addition, a large network of academic and industry partners ensures a fruitful cooperation. The partner institutions support the development of the school towards a global hub for service research. The mutual exchange of knowledge contributes to a win-win situation for all sides, PhD students, academic partners, and industry partners. Numerous interesting research questions have to be tackled along 5 perspectives on services: Service Innovation, Service Design & Engineering, Service Economics, Service Architecture, and Service Society.

We welcome you to the challenge!
