Thomas is currently employed as a Professor and is heading the Shared Research Group "Corporate Services and Systems", a joint initiative of KIT, FZI, and Bayer. Previously Thomas worked as Habilitand (post-doctorial researcher) in the field of IT Service Operations Management at Technische Universität München (TUM) in collaboration with Siemens.
For his recent work on data center virtualization and automation topics, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), Thomas won the INFORMS ISS Design Science Award. Thomas received his Dr. rer. nat. in Information Systems from the Technische Universität München (TUM), and his Dipl.-Wi.-Ing. in Business Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He worked as a consultant and engineer for organizations such as the European Parliament and Lufthansa, and worked as Visiting Scientist at IBM Research in New York.
